Aurea, Committed to Improving Safety and Prevention

An occupational safety analyst at Total, Aurea is responsible for assessing risks in the company's operations in Angola and planning the systems that help prevent accidents.

From Scholarship Recipient to Safety Expert

It was while she held a Total scholarship in France, in 2008, that Aurea discovered her calling: to improve employee safety and develop systems that help prevent workplace accidents. Recently hired by Total E&P Angola, she now analyzes reports received by the Health, Safety & Environment Department.

Analyzing Incidents to Prevent Accidents

Aurea receives reports on all types of incidents and issues that occur across Total E&P Angola. She then analyzes the information to identify the causes of the incidents and develop recommendations for accident prevention systems to be implemented in each area of activity.

A Future at Total

At 26 and with only a few months at Total E&P Angola, Aurea is just starting her career. Nevertheless, the fledgling safety engineer is clear about her path: "I want to get to know the company and have an overview of all the incidents, so that I can make a contribution and play a broader role in developing this field."
